Information for presentations
An opportunity to present your work!
We are encouraging all INAF students to participate! Students at the beginning of their degree can present their protocol and/or preliminary results. Feel free to submit an abstract for an oral presentation: 16 spots are scheduled for student presentations.
Abstracts must not exceed 300 words (excluding the title, authors and affiliations) and must be less than one page.
- Abstracts must include the following sections: introduction, objectives, methodology, results and conclusion. Abstracts presenting a research protocol must specify the expected results and outcomes of the research.
- No tables or diagrams are allowed.
- The abstract can be written in French or English.
The abstract must be submitted via the registration form before January 17, 2025 at 11:59PM.
Acceptance notifications will be communicated around January 27.
Only abstracts submitted before the deadline will be considered for competition.
When submitting your abstract, you will need to indicate your preference for an oral presentation.
Oral presentations will be limited to 10 minutes (8 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes for questions). Students are encouraged to use the INAF templates for their presentation materials: https://www.inaf.ulaval.ca/a-propos/outils-et-documents/#bo-te-outils.
You must send your presentation in PowerPoint format to the following email address: etudiants@inaf.ulaval.ca no later than February 14, 2025 at 11:59PM.
All oral presentations will be evaluated by a scientific committee:
- 2 x 300$ scholarships will be offered to the best oral presentations (Master's student)
- 2 x 300$ scholarships will be offered to the best oral presentations (PhD student)
When submitting your abstract, you will need to indicate your preference for a poster presentation.
Posters can be in French or English. The accepted format is portrait 48x36 inches. Students are encouraged to use the INAF templates for their presentation materials: https://www.inaf.ulaval.ca/a-propos/outils-et-documents/#bo-te-outils.
Posters must be hung in the Atrium on February 20, 2025 around 8AM.
You must be able to present your research in 5 min to the jury (3 minutes of presentation, 2 minutes of questions).
- 2 x 200$ scholarships will be offered to the best poster presentations (Master's student)
- 2 x 200$ scholarships will be offered to the best poster presentations (PhD student)
- 2 x 150$ scholarships will be offered to the public choices

Only graduate students are eligible for the presentations awards.
Abstracts will be evaluated based on the following points:
- Structure: Abstract is complete and well-structured, without spelling nor grammar mistakes, and respects the limit of 300 word.
- Clarity: Abstract is concise and clear.
- Scientific quality: Research problem and objectives are stated, methodology and results are decribed and relevant, conclusion is in line with the results.
- Relevance to the theme: Research topic is relevant to the theme of the symposium, the impact of the research on the field of sustainable food is put forward.
All abstracts will be evaluated by at least two members of the jury.
